Havergate Island, Orford
A small island on the River Ore, famous for its breeding avocets and terns, which can usually be seen during spring and summer. Havergate Island is an RSPB nature reserve, accessible only by boat, helping you to really feel as though you’re getting away from it all.
In autumn and winter, the island provides a haven for large numbers of ducks and wading birds. Havergate is also a great place to see brown hares at close range.
Pre-booking is essential.
Orford Quay at 10 am on first Saturday of every month (maximum 12 people). Also selected weekends for special events.
